Mesa leads on the eight historic districts the City of Mesa has designated in and around the original townsite, where National Folk houses, bungalows, period revival homes and early ranches built from the 1880s to the early 1960s line the blocks.

Tempe leads on its post-World War II ranch tracts: painted concrete block and brick houses from the late 1940s and 1950s, several of them now historic districts on the Tempe Historic Property Register or the National Register, from Borden Homes to University Park just south of Arizona State University.

Gilbert
Gilbert leads on its build eras: lake neighborhoods from the late 1980s and 1990s such as Val Vista Lakes and The Islands, then the HOA communities of the 2000s and 2010s such as Power Ranch, Seville, Agritopia and Morrison Ranch.

Queen Creek
Queen Creek leads on farm heritage and new construction: farm-named subdivisions such as Hastings Farms, Church Farm, Barney Farms and Harvest Queen Creek, built in the 2010s and 2020s, in a town that still grows citrus, cotton and pecans and keeps one-acre rural estate lots.

Chandler
Chandler's page leads on its change from farm town to tech city: the 1930s houses of Silk Stocking just outside downtown, mostly Early Ranch in style, and Southside Village, one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, then lake communities such as Ocotillo built on south Chandler farmland after Intel arrived in the 1980s.
